"Back to Basics"
This winter season at A Common Thread we are going to focus on getting “Back to Basics.” As time goes on, our staff gets more and more requests from customers for information and supplies for basic sewing projects. Quilting is still hot, but people are starting to find new ways to integrate quilting and fabric into other areas of their lives.

Laurie Newberry, a long time teacher here at A Common Thread, has been teaching her Design Your Own Sweatshirt Jacket class for several seasons. This jacket uses quilting motifs and portions of fabric blocks and borders to transform a simple sweatshirt into a wearable item of quilt art. Almost everyone has been making fabric bowls and now, fabric boxes.

There are many customers, new and seasoned quilters, who are beginning to sew clothes again. Others are branching out into home décor projects. Everyone needs support in these new endeavors. A Common Thread has opted to start to integrate more and more sewing and home décor classes, supplies, and inspiration into our shop. You’ll still find great quilting classes and quilting fabric here, but you will see us begin to transform over the next year into an all-inclusive sewing destination.

Don’t miss the opportunity to take a class or two from the National Teachers lined up this season. Kathy Sandbach will be here educating us on machine quilting. Linda Johansen is back again teaching us her newest creative project, fabric boxes, as well as her renowned color and design class, and her fast and fun Stripey Quilt. Early registration is strongly encouraged for both of these fabulous instructors.

Finally, this winter, we are starting a new exciting program to make classes more affordable. You’ll definitely want to take advantage of our Class Passport program. For only $50 you will be able to take unlimited passport classes. Click here for details.

Thank you so very much for your support in 2004. We look forward to your continued support this New Year.
